Med tilgangen af tre islændige, en dansk landsholdsspiller og en masse unge talenter ser det ud som, at Åbyhøj har fået stablet et ganske stabilt hold på benene. Derudover er det også yderst vigitigt for holdet, at man har kunnet få en spiller som Ed Morris tilbage. Netop han var en spiller, der var altdominerende for de grønne sidste sæson. Dette vidner hans stats fra sidste år også om, hvor han placerede sig som den tredje mest scorende (21,3), anden flest rebounds (9,3) og anden flest blocks (2,3).
Vi har spurgt Morris om hans forventninger til sig selv og holdet for den kommende sæson.
What can we expect to see from Aabyhøj this year?
- “Well you will expect to see a very different squad from last year. I think this year we will be very fast in transition scoring fastbreaks etc. -a very fast game this year from us. We will also be more aggresive -we will press the whole game.”
How do you see the team compared to last season?
- “Last year we had a experienced team, with Alan Madsen, myself and Bobby Guyton. This year I think we will be better. We have a youthful team; sometimes youthful can be bad in cases but the team we have this year is very matured. To be so young we have more athletisim than last year.”
What are your pesonal expectations for this season?
- “My personal goals is to of course make the playoffs. But i want to lead the league in points, rebounds and blocks. I think it’s very possible being I wasnt that far off last year.”
Which teams do you expect to see in the playoff – and who will lift the trophy?
- I dont know about the playoffs and which team would make it, being it’s so early and I dont know who has anybody on their team. But as long as we make it I’m good (udtaler Ed Morris med et smil på læben). I’m hoping we could hold the trophy up, but if not, then it will go to the team that deserves it. I dont have any pick.”
Ed Morris virker temmelig klar til sæsonen, og det bliver spændende at se om han kan dominere lige så meget som han selv forventer.
